Can you use the pre amps on the Tascam FW-1884 via firewire into the digidesign 002 for pro tools 8?

Details:

I have Pro Tools 8 with a digi002 rack . I was wondering if i hooked up the Tascam FW-1884 via firewire into the 002 if the pre amps could be used for another 8 inputs of I/O into pro tools . Would it work like any other firewire mic pre amp ?
