Angelina has stated that she continues with her acting career only to fund her humanitarian works for the United Nations. However, she prepared for an acting career from the age of 11, attending the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, then Beverly Hills High School and later on the film school at New York University. Before her acting career got started, she worked as model, signing up with Finesse Model Management and modelling in the US and Europe.

Love and Marriages
Angelina Jolie has been married twice: On March 28, 1996, she married Jonny
Lee Miller, a British actor with whom she had co-starred in Hackers. The couple
divorced on February 3, 1999 and Angelina married American actor Billy Bob Thornton
on May 5, 2000; they divorced on May 27, 2003.
Angelina has said many times that she is bisexual, and is reported to have had a longstanding, on-again, off-again affair with model Jenny Shimizu.
In early 2005, Angelina was once again in the news when she was named as being pivotal in the marriage breakdown of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. She subsequently claimed that she "could not look herself in the mirror" if she had an affair with a married man, because of the effects her father's admitted adultery had on her mother.
Angelina and Brad announced her pregnancy in January 2006, a few months after Brad legally adopted her two children, Maddox and Zahara. The couple are referred to in the tabloids as "Brangelina".
Humanitarian Work
In 2003, Angelina published Notes from My Travels, a collection of her journals,
written during missions for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees
(UNHCR). Proceeds from the book went to the UNHCR.
Angelina has been a Goodwill Ambassador for the UNHCR since 2001 and frequently travels to developing countries to draw attention to the plight of people living in them.
In a Reuters Interview in 2005, Angelina criticized fellow actors and actresses
for not making greater efforts to help others. She claimed she donates
one-third of her income to charities.
On October 12, 2005, Angelina was awarded
the Global Humanitarian Award by the United
Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA).
