My husband and I are both graduating from college this May. I'm finishing my undergrad in chemical engineering and he's finishing his masters in electrical engineering. We're going to have a big graduation reception at my parents' house the week after commencement, and invite all of our relatives, friends, colleagues, all of our acquaintances. In June, we'll be moving to a whole new city and starting a new life, so it's also kind of a going-away party. We'll be married for two years by the time the party rolls around.
My question is, for this classy event, celebrating academic achievement and new beginnings, would it be in poor taste to register for gifts? It's something I didn't really get to do for my wedding, and I've always wanted the opportunity to do it right. I've read in other discussions that people definitely considered it tacky for a graduating high schooler to register, but I feel like our situation is different. What do you think?
