Pleurotoma

n. pl. L. Pleurotomæ (#), E. Pleurotomas (#).
  1. Any marine gastropod belonging to Pleurotoma, and ether allied genera of the family Pleurotmidæ. The species are very numerous, especially in tropical seas. The outer lip has usually a posterior notch or slit.
