Explain the advantages to a pathogen of reproducing quickly?

A pathogen in an invader.
The host certainly doesn't want it and will always work to remove it.
Hence, a pathogen doesn't waste time.
The moment it gets in, duplication is key.
As once the pathogen gets duplicated.
It's chances of becoming effective (causing trouble) increase.
