... to be up etc., I was always appriciative and thanked him but when I told him that I'd rather him be there emotionally for me than just do and buy things for me he stopped everything all together. I feel like I was wrong, what should I do?

it sounds like he isn't a touchy feely type of person and you ask the boyfriend to do something basically change who he really is he didn't like it you basically ask him to change and that was wrong i would just apoligize for this and mean it cause you might have walked on his heart it might be awhile be for you see any of this agian find a way of showing him your sorry for all the things that got involved with this decision
