I am an amateur movie maker. The main character of the movie I want to shoot is an African American. However, there are no more than 3 black people in my whole town (right, nobody wants to immigrate to Poland), and it is out of question to find a black actor. Would it be offensive if a white actor wore a dark, realistic looking makeup for the role?

(The movie criticizes and ridicules nationality and race based stereotypes, and definitely no-one would find its scenario offensive.)

The actor would wear a military balaclava revealing the entire face, but covering the chin and forehead, so it should be relatively easy to make a fine-looking and tasteful makeup.
