(hĕngk bä´dĭngz), 190787, Dutch composer, b. Bandung, Java (now Indonesia). Badings studied with Willem Pijper after working as a mining engineer. An extremely prolific composer, he started writing electronic music in the 1950s. Some of his compositions utilize scales of alternating whole and half steps and pluritonality. Badings's first symphony was written in 1930; other works are the electronic ballet
