Bermuda Grass

perennial pasture, lawn, and hay grass (Cynodon dactylon) of the family Gramineae (grass family), native to Africa and Asia and now common in warm regions of both hemispheres. It is the standard pasture grass in the S United States. It is heat- and drought-resistant and grows in almost any soil that is not too wet or shady, spreading rapidly and often becoming a weed. Bermuda grass is classified in the division Magnoliophyta, class Liliopsida, order Cyperales, family Gramineae.
