Haverfield, Francis John

(hăv´ərfēld), 18601919, English historian and archaeologist. Educated at Oxford, he also worked under Theodor Mommsen. In 1907 he became Camden professor of ancient history at Oxford. He was the first scientific historian of Roman Britain. His works include
