(fâr´əm), 18681947, British politician. He was (19001918) a Conservative member of the House of Commons. During World War I, Lee was military secretary to David Lloyd George (1916) and director-general of food production (191718). He was later minister of agriculture (191921), first lord of the admiralty (192122), and a delegate to the Washington Naval Conference (192122). He was raised to the peerage in 1918. In 1921 he presented Chequers, his estate, to the nation as a country residence for the prime minister.
