18791957, English archaeologist. From 1914 to 1923 he was director of the British School at Athens. He served as professor of classical archaeology at Cambridge (193444) and at Farouk I Univ., Alexandria (194352). Wace excavated at Sparta, Mycenae, Troy, Thessaly, Corinth, and Alexandria.
