Wakey wakey! The answer is 7 guys, okay? Why are you all fighting about a freaking riddle? At least half of you mentioned that the rest of you don't get it because it's a freaking RIDDLE!!!!!!! Ha-ha!!!!!!! Anyways, just add 'em up! 4 + 2 + 1 = 7. There's your proof. You can trust me on that.
You people don't learn. You don't listen either. The answer is 7 and why is it so difficult to believe the riddle? You don't get the riddle. It's a RIDDLE!!! Use your squishy brain and think. You went to elementary school and studied how to count. You're not idiots so stop acting like idiots.
There is really not enough here to nail it to one answer. Example : Each parent could have 4 daughters from previous marriages and each set of 4 could have a common brother or the brother could be common to each set. The simple answer that jumps out is 7. 2 parents + 4 common daughters + 1 brother common to all 4 daughters.
However if each parent has their own set of 4 daughters and each set has a separate common brother the answer is 2 parents + 8 daughters + 2 brothers for a total of 12. In this example if the brother was common to both sets of daughters the answer would be 11. 2 parents + 8 daughters + 1 brother.
In addition one could argue that the mother by nature is a daughter as well and therefore by stated fact has a brother in addition to the numbers above raising the number by 1 for each of the scenarios above.
Think I'm reading too much into this? Let's take the Brady Bunch as a example. Mike and Barbra have 3 kids. How many people are in the family? Is it 3 kids each? Is it 3 kids together? We can assume but we do not definitively know by the sentence itself. We do know because we are familiar with the Brady Bunch that it is 3 kids each.
Given that this is a riddle we are poised to look for all possibilities especially those hidden or tricky. I would argue that there are too many solutions that fit the English written to diffinitively say 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 or some other number.
More than half of you guys are not getting the point of it. And you guys are stupid to say the answer is 10. Those of you who said the answer is 10, clearly don’t understand the term “RIDDLE”. Riddles have a way to trick us. It has a way of confusing us. The true answer is 7. No need to argue about it.
