What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before using trifluridine ophthalmic? |

Do not use trifluridine ophthalmic if you have a bacterial or fungal infection in your eye. It is used to treat infections caused by viruses only. |

It is not known whether trifluridine ophthalmic will be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not use trifluridine ophthalmic without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment. |
|
|
It is not known whether trifluridine ophthalmic passes into breast milk. Do not use trifluridine ophthalmic without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. |

How should I use trifluridine ophthalmic? |
|
|
Use trifluridine ophthalmic eyedrops exactly as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you. |

Wash your hands before using the eyedrops. |

Tilt your head back slightly and pull down on the lower eyelid. Position the dropper above your eye. Look up and away from the dropper. Squeeze out a drop and close your eye. Apply gentle pressure to the inside corner of the eye (near the nose) for about 1 minute to prevent the liquid from draining down the tear duct. If you are using more than one drop in the same eye, repeat the process. If you are also using another eye medication in the same eye, wait about 10 minutes between application of the different medications. |

What happens if I overdose? |

|
An overdose of this medication is not expected to threaten life. |
|
|
If a large amount of the drops are administered in the eye, or if the drops are ingested, contact an emergency room or poison control center for advice. The ingestion of a whole bottle of trifluridine ophthalmic is not expected to cause harm. |

What should I avoid while taking trifluridine ophthalmic? |
|
|

Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Trifluridine ophthalmic may cause blurred vision. If you experience blurred vision, avoid these activities. |

Use caution with contact lenses. Wear them only if your doctor approves. After applying this medication, wait at least 15 minutes before inserting contact lenses. |
|
|
Avoid other eye medications except under the direction of your doctor. |

What are the possible side effects of trifluridine ophthalmic? |
|
|
Serious side effects are not expected to occur with the use of this medication. |
|
|
Commonly, some burning, stinging, pain, irritation, itching, redness, blurred vision, or increased pressure in the eye may occur. Continue to use trifluridine ophthalmic and talk to your doctor about any side effects that you experience. |

What other drugs will affect trifluridine ophthalmic? |
|
|
Avoid other eye medications except under the direction of your doctor. |
|
|
