My friend is 6 months pregnant and is pretty worried about the delivery. She's heard that some labors last from 3 hours to 31. We're wondering if the mother spends the whole 3-31 hours pushing? If not then what usually happens until the head starts crowning?
Also,if you know any ways to ease her worries it would be much appreciated
So your friend heard correct. Some labors may last three to thirty one hours. But within all those hours she will be heavy breathing, pushing, screaming, and she will feel slot of pain unless she takes a medicine a doctor will give, which will ease the pain. But tell your friend not to worry because while she is working hard so is the baby working hard ready to come out and say hi to the world. Tell her to have water and small damp towels she can have during her labor. Tell her during labor and delivery have her think about finally getting the baby after hours of pushing. Or for her to think about a calm place.
When my first was born, Mama got so bored she calld me to come get her out of the hospital. A few hours later she decided to go back again. All together it took almost 20 hours.
Conclusion: when she gets bored, tell her to shut up and get back in bed. The nurses know their business.
