"In my place" featured by Coldplay is a very interesting song to me. I'm trying to subtitle it into my own language. But still there are some phrases within lyrics which I don't understand their means. I've brought the full lyric and I marked those phrases with ****
--------------------------------------…
In my place, in my place
Were lines that I couldn't change
I was lost, oh yeah
I was lost, I was lost
Crossed lines I shouldn't have crossed
I was lost, oh yeah
(Yeah)
How long must you wait for it? ****(1)
(Yeah)
How long must you pay for it?
(Yeah)
How long must you wait for it?
Oh for it
I was scared, I was scared
Tired and under prepared ****(2)
But I'll wait for it
If you go, if you go
And leave me down here on my own
Then I'll wait for you
.
.
.
Singing ooh, ooh
Please, please, please
Come back and sing to me, to me, me ****(3)
Come on and sing it out now, now
Come on and sing it out to me, me
Come back and sing
.
.
.

1- In "How long must you wait for it" what does the "it" refers to? wait for the moment that beloved comes back, for the consequences of the mistake he's made, or what?
2- In "Tired and under prepared" what's the meaning of being under prepared? I thought it may point that singer was about to do something like SUICIDE but he repents, or getting prepared to face to lonely situations and it's problems, or one of my friends interpreted it that singer wants to tell the truth to his love and he's getting prepared to tell what's in his heart. How do you conclude from it?
3- in "Sing to me", he asks the beloved to sing WITH him or sing FOR him?
