Is there a simple formula that can be used?
the normal weight for a 5th grader is 103 pounds im a 6th grader and i only weidh 67 pounds so you should weigh more than 90 pounds
It has nothing to do with age. Height is directly correlated with weight as far as the human body is concerned. Of course, there is a difference whether you are male or female.
For example, if you're 5'5'' and 22 years of age, should you weigh more than 90lbs because you're over the age of 17? The older you get, you should weigh more? no.
If you're taller (5'11''), you should weigh more than you would if you were shorter (5'5'').
Go with the BMI index for best results.
you can compute your body mass index in this formula....
BMI= mass(lbs) x 703 / height(inches) / height (inches)
for example i am 123.45 lbs and 66 inches in height then i computed 19. 92.
a BMI of 18.5 to 25 may indicate optimal weight; a BMI lower than 18.5 suggests the person is underweight while a number above 25 may indicate the person is overweight; a BMI below 17.5 may indicate the person has anorexia nervosa or a related disorder; a number above 30 suggests the person is obese (over 40, morbidly obese).
Calculate your BMI Index.
The Metric BMI Formula:
BMI = Weight in Kilograms
(Height in Meters) x (Height in Meters)
BMI = (Weight in Kilograms
(Height in centimeters) x (Height in centimeters) ) x 10,000 For example, a person who weighs 99.79 Kilograms and is 1.905 Meters (190.50 centimeters) tall has a BMI of 27.5. 99.79 Kg
(1.905 m) x (1.905 m) = 27.5
The Imperial BMI Formula:
BMI = (Weight in Pounds
(Height in inches) x (Height in inches) ) x 703
To determine how much one should weigh. Several factors should be considered, including age, muscle-fat ratio, height, sex, and bone density. Some health professionals suggest that calculating Body Mass Index (BMI) is the best way to decide whether person's body weight is ideal or not. BMI is someone's weight in relation to their height. BMI is calculated as weight (kilograms) divided by the square of person's height (meters). People with a BMI of less than 18.5 are underweight. A BMI of between 18.5 and 25 is ideal. Individual with a BMI between 25 and 30 is classed as overweight. A person with a BMI over 30 is obese. Age is nothing to do much .
Using a BMI calculator is the best way to evaluate the best weight for your height, it is calculated by weight in kg/height in meters(squared)but keep in mind some limitations regarding its use:
A BMI between 20-25 is considered "ideal weight" but these recommendations are based on draft records from the 1940's. On average, people are bigger than this now because we eat more. It's not just that we have gotten fatter, it's because we have more access to food so we tend grow more bone and muscle- that's not a bad thing.
Although BMI 25-30 is considered "overweight", your risk factors for weight -related disease doesn't increase until your BMI is greater than 30. In my experience as a physician, most Americans range BMI 25-30.
A BMI less than 20 is definitely dangerously low because it leads to less bone density and it affects your sex hormones. Women with BMI less than 20 often stop having monthly menstruation and men have less testosterone which can rarely have some feminizing affects during adolescence. If your BMI is less than 20 an eating disorder should be considered.
The BMI recommendations assume an average body fat of about 30%. If you are athletic with more than average muscle mass and less body fat, your BMI will be falsely elevated.
it depends on how old you are (:
