I wanted to know for writing references not to actually mock someone. Well, a fictional character IS mocking another in the story but I'm not looking to make fun of someone in real life, if that is what concerns you. ;)

Keep in mind, however, that no idiom masks mockery - you'd probably only want to say that to a friend in jest, and better off expressing sympathy in case they seem to actually care about their failure.
Suppose some online multiplayer shooter would be okay too.
