There's a girl that I've been talking to for the last few weeks. Last week, she went on a first date with someone though. How long before I can ask her out? It's generally agreed upon by the people around that those two will not get very far.

There is no etiquette involved. You could have called her the day after her date with the other guy. You snooze you lose dude! Call her tomorrow. You talked to her for weeks and none of it involved an invitation out for coffee! She only went on a date with the guy. He did not ask her to be his girlfriend or wife . Unless a girl says yes to one of those questions she is free to date anybody else. Call her tomorrow! Good luck.
