so I'm 13 years old (when girls like me start to change as far as their personality) and I've been called emo a few times and I so confuzzled! I do like bands such as BVB, live like glass, Blessthefall, underoath, ect. and I guess that makes sense. I don't have an "emo" look however. I do draw a lot and write poetry... idk. please help! maybe tell me what some emo signs are. I wouldn't mind being considered emo I guess.. Idek.

You are who you want to be. From your description/music taste you sound like u could be emo but it really depends on personality. And not all emOS CUT THEMSELVES aand are satanists. Those are just stereotypes!. I draw, listen to metal, and I'm a Christian too, and I label myself as emo, cuz tbh it's better than being labeled ghetto/preppy & being emo isn't even a bad thing, I personally enjoy being emo. c: & you honestly seem really cool! You shouldnt change yourself for anyone, listen to what u want to listen to, write about what u want and draw what u want! Ur awesome the way u are. Honestly, emo is a social stereotype. It's my stereotype as well. People don't HAVE to self-harm to be emo. It literally stands for "emotional." Emo people usually suffer from depression and/or anxiety. We usually wear black, but sometimes wear white and grey as well. Our shoes are usually combat boots, Vans, or Converse. Also, your hair doesn't have to be spiky or dyed. Mine isn't, it's brown. I hope this helped. Just know that YOU decide who you are, not other people.
Emo means "emotional" and is about expressing yourself, like drawing and listening to music . Not all emo's do cut themselves. For me the music has a lot of meaning in the songs. Some wear band t-shirts and rubber bracelet on the arms. They also wear Vans, or Converse and sometimes paint their nails black. Emo is also a stereotype, but I say you chose what ever you want and don't always let others chose for you. Emos honestly should be like one big family and feels like a family for the most part.

Those people who went crazy on their hair and clothes just to get attention are posers. I am also confuzzled whether or not I am emo, but yeah. I have a darker sense of style, I listen to alot of bands. Pierce The Veil is one of them.
