I have a lot of ceramic fiestaware brand dishes and when I wash them using a dishwasher they mostly come out fine, except a handful every time that end up smelling like wet dog. I have bleached the washer, changed the filter, and used different detergents with no solution. I think it's an issue with the dishes since mostly everything in the washer comes out fine. Does anyone have tips on getting the smell out of ceramic or preventing it? Maybe the ceramic is porous? I'm at my wit's end over it...

Ceramic is melted glass so it would be just weird if it absorbs anything. You might put the smelly dishes in a plastic bag with liquid ammonia overnight. If that erases the odor then it is caused by rancid fat sticking to the surface. But if that is the case you would see a film and you would get the same effect on glasses.
If it is only that one brand of dishes, well, dishes are cheap. Replace them and see what happens.
I'm guessing, so don't take this as fact.
