A ton is a ton no matter what you are weighing. It takes far less bricks make up a ton. A ton of bricks may be, say, 1000 bricks while one ton of feathers may be 1,000,000 feathers, as each feather is lighter.
The hint is "a ton". A ton of feathers is equal to a ton of anything else because they all weigh a ton. Just, there would be far more feathers to make that ton than bricks.
