I want my bedroom walls to look like a night sky (purple or dark blue with stars) but I can't figure out how to paint the stars! I don't want huge stars in the classic 5 or 6 point star shape, I want them to be small and realistic, but I can't figure out how to paint them! Please help! (Also please don't criticise my idea if you don't like it or you think it's weird.)

I would think you'd want stars ranging in size from small to very tiny just as you'd see at night with the naked eye. I'd suggest stencils. Google star stencils or night time star stencils.
I went to amazon.com and typed in star stencils. You have to scroll down a bit but look for a packet with yellow, stands out from the others. The seller name is Darice. It was the only one that I thought fit your vision. I also searched for night time star stencils but it came up with silver metallic stars that stick to the ceiling but only if you have a smooth ceiling. The ad showed them on a wall behind a baby crib and they were in sizes that might work. The name of the seller of those is below.
