I have a hard time sleeping because I am always thinking. Like conversations and movies I've seen running through my head. I feel like I can't get a break. I interrupt people and even when I'm by myself I talk out loud. I just can't seem to stop the chatter.

I also have a really busy mind and whenever I can't fall asleep because my head is still busy, I usually try to relax as much as I can. What helps for me is either to tense your muscles for about 10 seconds and then relax them completely, or to just lie on my back and not move at all, not even if i have an itch or anything. In the beginning it's hard to lie still but eventually it gets really relaxing. If i'm still restless in my head I start counting down from 100. whenever i catch myself wondering off to other thoughts i start again at the last number i counted and keep counting down until i fall asleep.
I know what that is like. I have very similar problems. Psychology and the study of how the brain works is a vast and still very much unexplored thing and different peoples brains and thought patterns work is very different ways. Some things that work for one person might not work for another so it is a very difficult thing to pinpoint. I don't know if it will work for you but some things I do that helps me is meditation. Music can be a very good thing to use. But even that can sometimes be hard for an individual to pinpoint. Find something that is mellow that you can enjoy but also not focus so much on that your forget the point of yourself trying to calm your brain. Try binaural beats or isochronic tones. These are very helpful. Binaural beats the best I can explain is music that is not played in a traditional way to actually having a melody. Usually just a bunch of chords mixed together to simulate a melody. Isochronic tones is not music. Is it an electronic tone played at very high frequency and is used for cleansing the mental pathways. It can be used either on its own or with a binaural beat. There are lots of these on Youtube if curious.
