The word is descended from an ancient word for a plow. Related words are cult, cultivate, colon, and colony. "Decolonization" is a political construct with several meanings, not necessarily reliable ones, and not all related to cultivation. In politics a word means exactly something until you decide to pretend it means something else. "Good for the earth" is even less certain in its meaning, and an opinion in any case.
