If you get out of the shower and you're clean, how does your towel get dirty?

You still have some skin cells and hair and maybe some leftover bacteries etc that haven’t come off in the shower that will rub off on the towel.

The towel is left in a humid place where it collects whatever happens to be drifting in the air. Mostly that will be bacteria, skin cells, and things that were already on you, so nothing grows that will make you sick. But you never know, so you use it a couple of times and then wash it.

Do bath towels really ever get dirty?

".. While it's true that after a shower you have eliminated most of the germs and dirt from your skin, the process of rubbing a towel against the body rubs off dead skin that sticks to the moist towel."
