Is disciplane an obstacle to creativity?

Without discipline, creativity is impossible. Without discipline, you are a slave to your brain farts. You get some stupid thing stuck in your head and you can't get it out.

Consider a musician: if he can only play one style, he is not a musician. He is what they call a "one trick pony". (More often a "one hit wonder".) He has to study and practice until he can play any style he wants to any time he wants to.
