I have a check engine light on in my 2004 jeep wranlger. When i got home I looked up what could be the problem and I found it could be my gas cap. I checked that and it was broke so I replaced it. My light is still on. I took it to autozone to get it checked and it found no problems. I was then told to unplug the battery to try and reset the computer and that has not helped either. I noticed when I was driving to the auto parts store and it sounds like my starts out in second gear and it won't shift out of second gear.
Are there anything else that I can check before I go to a mechanic?
