paulybob's answer: In the U.S., the first day of Spring is between March 19th and 21st. Thsis dependant on what day the vernal equinox (when the sun sits directly above the equator) falls on. In 2009, the first day of Spring was March 20th.

paulybob's answer: From what I have read, this is a very tricky subject. Officially, public policy always overrules private agreements. However, the definition of public policy is ambiguous and subject to change on a regular basis.
