... and it's $30 a night all three guys slept in the same room so each of them paid $10 , the owner of the hotel called the room service guy and told him here take $5 and give it to the three guys he went and when he got to there room he didn't know how to divide the $5 so he gave each one of them $1 now each paid $9 since they got a $1 back now 9*3= $27 and the room service guy has $2 that's $29 in total where did the $1 go???????

It didn't go anywhere, the room service guy has it. Look at it this way. Let's give a number to each dollar. So at the start, the guys have the numbers 1-30. They give them all to the owner, he now has the numbers 1-30. The owner keeps the numbers 1-25 and gives 26-30 to the room service guy. The room service guy gives the numbers 26,27 and 28 to the guys and keeps the last two dollars. So there never was a "1$". See it like this, add up the 25$ the owner has at the end of the transaction, the 2$ the room service guy has in his pockets and the 3$ the guys got back. Guess what? It's 30!
