It says to look at the end of the preamble, but my guess the answer is:
"...decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."

So it would last. Back then there was no videos or iPhones and you had to write it down to make it last. Think about it this way. Why do you write(or type) an essay? To make it last. If you made a video recording, the software might get old over the years.
I memorized the preamble last year. Good times.
"We the people, in order to form a more perfect union, ___________, ensure domestic tranquillity! Provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare AHHAND provide the _____ of liberty, to ourselves and our posterity; to ordain and ESTABLISH THIS CONSTITUTION, for the p, United States of America!"

I'm referring to the Declaration of Independence. While I understand and appreciate your answer, I'm not sure it's in context.
