Recently, I've started a series of reports about the issue of free speech on college campuses, and how it is coming under attack. My most current episode focuses on the speech climate at DePaul University. I sent an e-mail to university officials, asking for comment on the matter. For their part, they declined my request for an interview. Now, I know it is traditional for professional news outlets (such as Fox News) to continue to pursue such interviews, even after such requests have been refused. Should I do this as well? I would ask why university administrators don't wish to speak with me, but....I don't know.
