John Molloy wrote a book, "Dress For Success" where he details many of the things that successful people do. He pays actors to go to job interviews to keep track of such things. One thing he mentions is that some people will not do business with a man if the heels of his shoes are worn, even a little bit. That is an example of a general thing that is noticed in all successful people: they take care of things. A successful man is very likely to straighten his bed as soon as he gets out of it. He keeps a clean car. A very successful man knows dozens more people than one who is merely successful, and he knows them rather well. A very successful man is a superb speaker, perhaps because he participated in drama or public speaking in school. And he dresses well: not expensively, but correctly. Ralph Lauren mostly wears the jeans for which he is famous. He once had an appointment with a financier who was fond of silk suits, so Ralph wore a suit to the interview. The financier showed up wearing jeans.
