Why do Hindus act morally?

When two or more people live in the same area they have to adopt some rules about who does what to whom. Any such rule is called a moré, pronounced "mor-ay". The adjective form is moral, and the habit of following morés is morality. Morés do not have to be right, only accepted. Another group on the other side of the river might have very different morés.

If anybody does not act morally, the group will not tolerate their presence very long.

It is not true that all Hindus act morally. Some Hindus act morally, just as other people of other religions of this world do too . It is not religion that creates morality, it is our own personal philosophy, our choice, it is our habits, the way we grow up. Therefore, Hinduism by itself is a mixture of many different theologies, though originally it comes from Sanatana Dharma which makes us realize that we are the Divine Soul. Therefore, morality is a matter of choice, we all have been given willpower, an intelligence. Those who are enlightened, those who realize the truth choose to live a moral life.
