Why do I still get a battery light with brand NEW alternator and brand NEW battery?

Drive a Pontiac fiero 4cyl 1988 the alternator died on it. Replaced both the alternator and the battery but the light still comes on after. When reaching higher rpms the battery light will stay lit. Any answers, desperate thank you.
Also the car will spontaneously die mid drive.

First thing to do is check all the connections. If a mechanic did the work take it back to him. If you did the work double check your installation and check all connections.
