Why does everyone say we have to forgive someone when they do really awful things to us why is it not just up to God to forgive and does it mean that we are less worthy for heaven?

Each of us has good reason to plead for forgiveness from god as did David: “For your name’s sake, O Jehovah, you must even forgive my error, for it is considerable.”—Psalm 25:11.Jehovah God can forgive you, so you need to imitate Him and be “tenderly compassionate", "freely forgiving” of others".
If you forgive them then maybe since you are being nice to them then maybe they will start to be nice to you. Everyone has sinned and has disobeyed God so we do not deserve to go to Heaven. There is no possible way that we can ever do something to be worthy for Heaven. It is a gift from God. Asking God is all we have to do. In Heaven you will never be sick, tired, or hungry. If you have a disease or something like that it will be gone! When you are in Heaven you will recieve a new body. You will never be sad or mad! Heaven is such a great place! God want everyone to go to Heaven! He does not want anybody to go to Hell. That is why he made Heaven. God is so nice! :)
We human beings don't understand the meaning of life and therefore we think that it is for us to forgive people for their actions. We don't realize that there is a law that governs people's actions. And this law takes care of all actions. Therefore, if somebody has harmed us, it is not for us to take revenge or to take some negative action because that revenge or negative action will become seeds that we plant and will return to us as misery. Therefore, the only way to live is to forgive, the only way to live is not just to forgive but to forget and to surrender to the universal power of karma, the law that will unfold based on people's actions. When we keep grudges in our heart, we only remain miserable and lose our beautiful life.
