Why smell of a rotten body is clearer is hot weather than cold weather?

Heya, I am no pro here but it seems like the reason for the decomposing body's odor being more noticeable is because in cold weather the process of "rotting" is faintly slowed down.
As an example, imagine the meat someone has in their freezer; freezers were intended to extend the time your meat stays safe to eat by having a climate too cold for bacteria that break down the meat to live and reproduce in. If there would be no freezers (referring to the hot weather) meaning bacteria would start decomposing the body and would cause it to have a strong rather unpleasant scent.
Hope that helps and have a good one!
