Studies are done but I hestitate to choose one unless I'm familiar with the group. Just looking at the numbers it appears tigers in India because of the human over population and how the are pushing into the animals' habitat. Also there are no tigers in Africa there are leopards. If a study came from a group there I'd trust it because the World Wildlife Federation is there looking out for them collaring them trying to prevent poaching and they have millions of acres of reserves and parks and sanctuaries for animals to roam good for the animals and difficult for guarding. They do have accurate head counts or as close as they can get.

The number i saw repeatedly was 85 deaths per year in India by tigers.
