HI I'm 14, and a girl. My bed is right by the window, and my window is cracked. I CANT move my bed, or sleep anywhere else my room is small. Right now it's 4:22pm and its -8 outside right now. Our school is having 2 hour delays all week. There is a -27 windchill (30-45mph) winds, and the high is in the negatives all week. I live in NY. Last night was miserable, I slept in 2 pairs of PJ's a down winter coat, slippers, gloves, hat and 2 down comforters. Everytime I moved it was FREEZING! I woke up about 14-15 times every hour! I also had CDT's today! My blinds are the kind that when wind blows they open. I can't move my bed. I am currently downstairs. Also the heat doesn't work in my room. So during the summer its like a really hot sauna. I basically bake in there. My bed is like an ice cube, and the sheets are the frost, and I'm the warm thing inbetween freezing to death! What should I do? I told my parents, they said to just deal with it.

I know when we lived in an old house, we put a solid layer of plastic up in the window and sealed it in. For the window itself, if the crack is at the bottom, use a couple of towels, or a thick blanket to block it, and try to keep it pressed tight against it. A heavy curtain could also help buffer against the cold.
Also, masking or duct tape is a great tool if you care more about function than looks. Apply tape to both sides if able, just be careful to not splice your finger(s) open.
Once you have secured the window, get a space heater (or a bunch of friends) and warm the room up.
During the summer, look at building your own swamp cooler.
