... eg. I use words like "Howzitt" alot and the phone keeps trying to correct this and suggests other words. With previous phones i have always been able to add my own words to them so they're recognized by the phone and even predicted by the phone. Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks

I did a strange thing where I went to the language and input settings. Then, just above where it says samsung keyboard (and just below that it said google voice input) there was a thing that said something like 'keyboard input' or something. it's not gone because I did something which is why I can't remember, but anyway it was there, something was there. And then on the page that came up there was an option to allow the phone to learn from your 'style' of input. something seems to have changed anyway, I'm still waiting to see if it's going to do what I want it (and not be a real pain in the ass as it was before! :-) )
