How smart artificial intelligence now?

A bit of a vague question, but I'll give it my best shot. Pretty smart. It's fast, efficient, flexible and pretty useful. Do a little research if you want to know the specifics. However, there's one problem: it can't come up with ideas on it's own, it can only do the task that it's told, even if the task is super long a complicated. Not that I'm complaining, the last thing we need is sentient computers.
