I currently live in a college dorm, and my laptop might be a bit outdated. Ethernet is not an option, and I have no control over the placement of the WAPs (the closest one that I can connect to has to transmit through 2 walls and a door).

My biggest problem is keeping a steady, low-latency connection; my bandwidth is reasonable, but anything involving real-time internet usage such as video chatting and gaming are extremely laggy. What are some ways in which I can improve the stability of the connection between my laptop and the school's network over WiFi?
