I need a song for an audition?

I'm auditioning for something and I need to sing a song and play the guitar. If I am an alto and a beginner guitar player (I can play all the basic chords along with a few barre chords), what song should I sing?

I would like to stick with alternative but I'll take suggestions from other genres as well.

I'm not just saying this because I am a huge Beatles fanatic, but there is a song called blackbird, it's impressive for vocals and easy on the guitar. It may seem quite overwhelming but it really isn't. It should take max 2~3 hours to really get it right.
