I will be moving from NJ to Oregon in May via road trip. I will be selling my small car to upgrade to a SUV. I have compared renting a car in NJ then buying in Oregon *VS* buying a car in NJ to drive there. Oregon does not have sales tax, where NJ is at 7%. If I rent, I would lose that money. I will also need to switch my license from NJ to OR.
-If I buy my car in NJ right before I leave, must the car be registered in NJ and then again in OR when I arrive?
