My mother won't let me work in college becuz she wants me to focus on books. But I have no aid?

I have no aid (she didn't apply for FAFSA) and I did not get a scholarship. I need help with tuition. I have plenty of money in my checking acct but she doesn't want me to touch that for tuition. How can I convince her I need the money for tuition? She can't do it all by herself and my dad only gave me $50 towards college. My money and her money is in my checking. I have 1/2 of my first semester paid for but what about the next 4 years.

If your mother isn't helping you financially, I don't know what leverage she has as to whether you get a job or not.  I worked my way through college, and unless you can get her to apply for aid or pay your tuition, I suggest you do the same.

You may go into debt but there's always student loans and there relatively easy to get. Scholarships are a rarity unless you're talented. Grants help a little but not much in the long run. Its your life.
