What can I do or say to people who direct road rage at me, or to other harassing people?

You say nothing, you do nothing, you learn patience and you continue on your way as if you saw nothing and heard nothing. This is why maturity level counts.

Responding to immature people, angry people or psychologically messed up people sinks you to their level. It achieves absolutely nothing and very often exacerbates the situation. Your response usually makes a relately small problem a much larger problem. It could make you a dead person if their anger grows.

So you put your immaturity away, you put your ego away, you put your testostetone away and you turn on some pleasant music and take some deep breathes and realize that you are not a little kid on a school ground and there is no need to try and one up the school ground bully.

That's what you do.

I am not a confrontational person. I did not want to confront him and did not do so. I should have mentioned in my question that someone was threatening my life. The guy kept driving up to me on the freeway. I apologize for not mentioning that it was a scary situation. Most of the time I'm great at ignoring ignorant people, as I did this time. You mentioned testosterone, I'm female so keeping testosterone under control is not a problem for me. I'm not going to become a dead person because I don't start stuff and keep to myself. All I was asking is if I should stand up for myself.

What are you saying? You want to direct road rage and harassment back at them?

Anything someone says to you is a gift. You don't have to accept it. If harassment becomes physical assault, then that is a legal matter. Otherwise you just ignore their childish antics.

I do not want to confront them I Just want them to go away. The reason I asked this question was because of a road rage incident on the freeway. This guy kept coming up to me in his car yelling at me. He approached my car five or six times yelling and threatening to kill me!

The only thing you can do in such a case is get away. If you can't get away then there is nothing you can do.

Today, irrational anger and uncontrolled rage are seen on the road everywhere. This apparently gratuitous and unnecessary violence can often lead to a crime. Experincing this kind of random and unpredictable violence can leave a person feeling disconnected and vulnerable.
However, for the most part, it best to try to remove yourself from the situation as soon as you possibly can. My mom use to alway say: "a good run is better than a bad stand". Also, not every situation require "words". In today's world, just be thankful if you get away with your life. I hope and pray you will not have to run into any more situations like this in the near future.
