Why does my dog store food in the sides of her mouth?

My chihuahua stores pieces of her food in the sides of her mouth like a chipmunk, not a lot of food, usually like 1 piece and then she walks around like that, I wasn't aware at first but I saw a bump on her cheek and got worried so I went to go feel it and then she spit out a piece of dog food and the bump was gone, she had been laying in bed with me for about 5-10 minutes and didn't get up so it wasn't like she just got the piece of food

They like doing that at least she spit it out she might be saving it for later to eat she also might not realize she has it there does she do this all the time could be just a one time thing if she doesn't do it all the time.

Dear Ardnas, My dog does the same thing but it just sits in the corner of her mouth then I have to dig it out of there and it is so gross and hard. I don&rsquo;t know why my dog does it either but it is probably to save for later.
