My girlfriend and I were discussing icings and frostings on cakes and the topic of fondants and cake decorations came up. I expressed that for the longest time I find myself struggling to take a bite from something if it's very beautiful or perfect. I get like this with non-food items as well, like if a stack of books or clothes is perfect and neat, I don't want to touch or disturb them, I just like looking at them and appreciating the perfection or beauty. Of course, when it comes to food I do eventually have to overcome this but often take a picture to keep it in my memory. Is there a word or expression for this? Is it a form of perfectionism?
