Based on a person's back ground and religious belief, there are many answers to this question. However from the Bible's explanation at John 4:24 "God is a Spirit".
Many refer to Him as Holy Spirit, part of the trinity as some believe, coequal and coeternal with the Father and the Son.
The Bible however says at, Genesis 1:2 uses His spirit to cause thing to happen, or He accomplishes his will by means of it.
