How do you roll your R's? No matter what I do it either sounds like a Z or like I'm whistling?

I'm trying to learn Italian, and my mother teaches Spanish. Eventually I will learn Spanish, and I want to learn Italian. I think it would be easier to learn Italian now, because when I'm in my moms class it will be harder to learn Italian. So I think its really important that I learn how. Help!

I will break it down into steps for you.  
1. Put the tip of your tongue around the middle roof of your mouth.  
2. While keeping your tongue in that position, blow air (direct the air through the tip of your tongue and middle roof of your mouth) out of your mouth.
3. Use your voice while doing it.  
4. Practice it, and I am sure you will eventually have it down.
